The MRCOOL DIY 12,000 BTU 23.5 SEER2 5th Gen Hyper Heat Ceiling Cassette System is a complete 230V single-zone mini split that heats and cools spaces up to 550 square feet, and keeps heating in outdoor temperatures down to -22°F.

This is the setup for a room where you want real winter heat without a wall unit in sight. The OuttaSight ceiling cassette mounts flush overhead, the Hyper Heat condenser holds its output when temperatures drop below zero, and at 23.5 SEER2 it's the most efficient cassette system in the DIY lineup. The kit ships complete with a 25-foot pre-charged Quick Connect line set, so there's no vacuum pump, no gauges, and no special tools or refrigerant certification.

What you should know

A ceiling cassette needs a bit more planning than a wall mount: confirm you have ceiling access and about 9 inches of depth above the ceiling plane before ordering, and check your joist spacing against the cutout. The system runs on a dedicated 208/230V circuit with a 15A max breaker, which most people have an electrician wire. If your winters rarely drop below 20°F, the standard 5th Gen cassette costs less and will serve you fine; the Hyper Heat version earns its price in genuinely cold climates.
