The MRCOOL® DIY® 5th Gen Multi-Zone 48,000 BTU Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump System provides efficient heating and cooling for two mid-to-large residential spaces. With a 48,000 BTU capacity, 4-ton configuration, and up to 21.8 SEER2 efficiency, this system combines two 18,000 BTU wall-mounted air handlers with a powerful multi-zone inverter condenser for flexible year-round comfort.
Designed for DIY installation, the system uses MRCOOL® pre-charged Quick Connect® line sets and R-454B refrigerant to simplify setup while eliminating the need for traditional evacuation and refrigerant charging for qualifying installations. Each 18,000 BTU wall-mounted air handler can provide heating and cooling for spaces up to approximately 800 square feet and includes convenient controls through the SmartHVAC app, remote control, Follow Me® functionality, and multiple operating modes.
The system features a DC inverter compressor, Gold Fin® condenser protection, low ambient cooling, quiet operation, and automatic restart after power interruptions. With ENERGY STAR® and AHRI certifications, a 5-year parts warranty, a 7-year compressor warranty, and optional extended lifetime compressor coverage through the MRCOOL® Care Program, this multi-zone system is built for dependable long-term comfort.
