The MRCOOL DIY 24K 24,000 BTU 20.5 SEER2 4th Gen Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner and Heat Pump brings serious heating and cooling capacity to rooms up to 1,000 square feet, all on a standard 230V circuit.

Like every MRCOOL DIY system, this one installs without an HVAC contractor. The 25 ft pre-charged Quick Connect line set means no vacuum pump, no gauges, and no special tools or refrigerant certification. What you should know

This is a 4th Gen system, which runs on R-410A refrigerant. Its line sets, air handlers, and condensers are not interchangeable with 5th Gen equipment, which uses R-454B, so any future expansion or replacement parts need to stay within the 4th Gen family. R-410A is being phased down for new equipment under federal regulations, but existing systems remain fully legal to own, operate, and service, and MRCOOL continues to support them.

Plan the electrical side before installation day: the condenser needs a dedicated 208-230V circuit with a breaker no larger than 35A and a minimum circuit ampacity of 22A. If you are not comfortable wiring a disconnect box, budget for an electrician for that one step. Also note the condenser weighs about 94 lbs, so a second set of hands helps when setting it on a pad or wall bracket.

Sizing matters more than brand: a 24K unit in a small, tight room will short-cycle, while the same unit in a leaky 1,200 sq ft space will run constantly. If your room is under about 700 sq ft with decent insulation, look at the 18K instead.
