The MRCOOL DIY 36K BTU 5th Gen Ductless Mini Split Condenser is the 230V outdoor unit for MRCOOL's biggest DIY single-zone system, delivering 36,000 BTU of cooling and heating at 18 SEER2 for spaces up to 1,500 square feet. It is the workhorse half of the pair: the compressor, the coil, and the brains of the refrigerant loop.

It keeps the DIY promise despite its size. The unit ships pre-charged with R-454B and connects to a 5th Gen Quick Connect line set, so there is no vacuum pump, no gauges, and no special tools or refrigerant certification. Electrical is the one part to plan ahead: this unit needs a dedicated 208/230V circuit with a breaker no larger than 35 amps and 33A minimum circuit ampacity. Have an electrician run that circuit if it does not exist. At just over 152 pounds, placement is also a two-person job.

Compatibility stays within the 5th Gen family. The R-454B charge and Quick Connect fittings do not pair with 3rd or 4th Gen air handlers or line sets, and the line connections here are 3/8 in liquid and 5/8 in suction.
