The MRCOOL DIY Select 12K 12,000 BTU 17.5 SEER2 Single Zone Mini Split System covers rooms from 400 to 550 square feet with a full ton of heating and cooling on plain 115V household power. It is the one-room answer from MRCOOL's most affordable DIY line, priced for spare bedrooms and offices that never got proper climate control.
The install asks nothing special of you. An 11.5-foot pre-charged Quick Connect line set comes in the box, so there is no vacuum pump, no gauges, and no special tools or refrigerant certification; the short line set is made for back-to-back installs with the condenser right behind the wall. Most homeowners have it mounted and connected in an afternoon.

What you should know
The Select's low price rides on a short warranty: 1 year on parts and 2 years on the compressor. Easy Pro doubles that and the 5th Gen more than doubles it again, so decide how many seasons of daily duty you expect before choosing the line.
Even at 115V, give the system its own dedicated circuit with a breaker no larger than 20 amps and 19.5A minimum circuit ampacity. At 55 pounds, the condenser is the easiest in the Select range to move and set.
The included 11.5-foot line set is sized for a condenser placed directly behind the indoor unit; if your layout needs a longer run, the platform supports up to 75 feet with a compatible Select line set on 1/4 in liquid and 3/8 in suction connections.
