The MRCOOL DIY Select 18K 18,000 BTU 17.3 SEER2 Single Zone Mini Split System brings budget-friendly heating and cooling to rooms between 600 and 800 square feet, delivering 17,000 BTU of cooling and 18,000 BTU of heating from a 1.5-ton, 230V setup. It is the mid-size option in MRCOOL's most affordable DIY line.

Affordable does not mean harder to install. The included 11.5-foot pre-charged Quick Connect line set means no vacuum pump, no gauges, and no special tools or refrigerant certification, and the short line set is ideal for back-to-back installs where the condenser sits just outside the wall. Most homeowners have it mounted and connected in an afternoon.

Price is the Select line's headline, and warranty is where the savings come from: 1 year on parts and 2 years on the compressor, well short of Easy Pro's 3 and 5 or the 5th Gen's 5 and 7. Buyers planning long-term daily use should weigh that against the lower cost.

The system needs a dedicated 208/230V circuit with a breaker no larger than 20 amps and 15A minimum circuit ampacity. If your panel does not have one, book the electrician before the boxes arrive. The 63-pound condenser is light enough for one strong person, easier with two.

Note the capacity split: the 18K name reflects heating, while rated cooling is 17,000 BTU. The included 11.5-foot line set suits a condenser placed directly behind the indoor unit; longer runs up to 75 feet need a compatible Select line set with 1/4 in liquid and 1/2 in suction connections.
