The installation is the same homeowner-friendly process as the flagship lines. An 11.5-foot pre-charged Quick Connect line set is included, so there is no vacuum pump, no gauges, and no special tools or refrigerant certification. Most homeowners have it mounted and connected in an afternoon.

Treat 400 square feet as the working limit in a room with reasonable insulation. A hot upstairs room with big windows will push the unit harder, and the Select 12K costs little more if you are near the line.

What you should know
The Select trades warranty length for price: 1 year on parts and 2 years on the compressor, versus 3 and 5 on Easy Pro and 5 and 7 on the 5th Gen. For a guest room used a few weeks a year that math often favors the Select; for an everyday living space, weigh the longer-coverage lines.
Even on 115V, give the system a dedicated circuit with a breaker no larger than 20 amps and 17A minimum circuit ampacity. The 55-pound condenser and 24-pound air handler make this the lightest, most manageable install in the whole DIY family.
The included 11.5-foot line set is meant for back-to-back installs with the condenser just outside the wall; runs up to 75 feet are supported with a compatible Select line set on 1/4 in liquid and 3/8 in suction connections.
